Billiard shooting tip - Draw Shots
In this article, I will show you the variables of draw and follow shots;
how each points on the billiard ball
can affect the direction and how powerful the shot can affect the distance.
In this practice,
use the striped billiard ball as the cue ball. Using the striped billiard
ball to practice as a cue ball has
its advantages, when hit, you can see the striped line in action, that
will determine whether you have done it right or not. If the striped line
wobbles greatly, you know the answer.
Now imagine in
your mind virtually that there are five points on the billiard ball.
Point 1 creates a lot of follow when you hit it with your billiard cue
stick,
point creates a bit of follow, point 3 is the center of the billiard
ball which is the center ball hit, point 4 creates a bit of draw,
and point 5 creates a lot of draw. See image below.
Now align the striped billiard ball with another object ball, strike the striped billiard ball with
your billiard cue stick and observe how the billiard ball reacts. Remember
to use the same power and stroke when practicing,
this way you can learn through observing your own stroke.
Experiment further by applying different power and angle to it, with
much practice you will be able to control more and the game will be
yours.
The next thing to
learn will be the distance it takes to affect the object ball. The distance
when the cue ball slides when hitting the object ball and the distance
it spins when hitting the object ball has different effect on the object
ball. How fast the spin can also affect the object ball. The slide of
the cue ball will not last forever, eventually it will stop by the friction
of the billiards table cloth. So you have to practice the draw and follow
shots with different types of power combine with different types of draw
or follow. Place the cue ball and the object ball apart at different distance
when practicing, soon you will know the combination.
Knowing and harnessing
these shots and strokes will up your billiard game. You can predict
and plan better for every shot. |
